A commitment, not an online result
Initiation is not something this website can determine you need. A quiz, interest in an Orisha or a compelling dream does not authorize a ceremony. Public education can help you understand questions to ask without deciding your religious path.
Ask about the life after the event
Discuss who will teach you, the godparent relationship, the house's expectations, preparation, time, costs and continuing responsibilities. Ask what support will be available afterward and how disagreements are handled. An initiation should not be reduced to its date, price or photographs.
Aleyo, initiate and priest describe different positions; their practical meaning needs context. Completion of an educational course is evidence of study, not religious office. Ocha and Ifá responsibilities should be identified accurately rather than blended into a generic spiritual credential.
What remains private
This page explains purpose and responsible questions. It does not disclose ceremonial sequences, private invocations or confidential Itá. Those belong within authorized religious relationships. Sacred privacy does not remove your right to informed consent or to seek help about mistreatment.
Take time to learn the community's ordinary life before accepting a major obligation. Pressure to decide immediately can prevent the very understanding a lasting relationship needs.
From Spiritual Evolution — Public reading and religious office · p.33
The manuscript distinguishes layperson and initiate and acknowledges that some practices belong to formally initiated people. This public guide preserves that distinction. Reading a book or completing a course is not itself initiation, nor does broad permission to read confer authority within a specific house.
