Consent must remain meaningful
Consent is specific and can change. Agreeing to a conversation is not permission for touch, recording, publication or a ceremony. Ask what will happen before it happens. A person's uncertainty is a reason to slow down, not proof that they need stronger pressure.
Money and authority
Religious labor may involve real costs and compensation. The ethical questions are whether the scope, costs and obligations are clear, and whether a person can decline without threats. A claim that only one paid intervention can avert an imminent spiritual disaster should not replace informed judgment.
Ask what is included, what might cost more, and who can address a complaint. Do not confuse an impressive title or large following with accountable authority. You should be able to maintain other relationships and seek another perspective.
Privacy does not excuse abuse
Sacred privacy protects religious relationships and knowledge. It does not justify coercion, exploitation or silence about harm. Confidential information from a gathering should not become entertainment, marketing or leverage over a participant.
If a relationship leaves you afraid to ask questions or unable to say no, step back and seek support outside that relationship. This is an ethical principle for this site's public education, not a claim that every community has identical procedures.

Miller’s warning about secrecy, payment and isolation gives a concrete question to ask of spiritual advice: does it preserve a person’s ability to think and choose? His prayer for humility places service, compassion and truth above titles. These are useful themes for evaluating conduct without assigning supernatural authority to a website.
