The tradition took shape through forced migration, colonial violence, enslavement, cultural survival, Catholic colonial environments, and creative community formation in Cuba.
Continuity does not mean that history froze. Religious communities preserved inherited knowledge while responding to new language, law, family structures, and place.
Diaspora and public understanding
Modern communities exist across the Americas and beyond. Accurate public education matters because racialized and sensational misrepresentation can harm real practitioners and their religious freedom.
